Born in Berca, Buzău County in 1939, Nicolae Apostol graduated in 1965 from the Institute of Fine Arts “Nicolae Grigorescu” in Bucharest, a year in which he also settled in Baia Mare. He participated in numerous exhibitions in Romania and abroad in cities such as London, Paris, Budapest, Warsaw, Santiago de Chile, Tunis or Moscow. He made numerous study trips to Russia, Armenia, Japan, Finland, Poland, Hungary, Israel, Germany and France. In 1966, he was awarded the Union of Fine Artists Award for Graphics.
In this painting, Nicolae Apostol proposes an urban incursion on the streets near the historical center of the city, in which the perspective on the tower of Saint Stephen in the distant plan is illustrated in agreements of colored gray.
